I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Villa
Garde seems an okay chap.. so, what the hell is going on that once-decent club?

C&P

"Remi Garde’s fading hopes of saving Aston Villa from relegation this season were dealt another significant blow before the weekend, according to reports – after the senior side lost 3-0 to the club’s Under-21s in a friendly.

"Sky Sports claim that, with Villa out of the FA Cup and thus not in competitive action over the weekend, manager Garde arranged a closed-doors match between the senior team and the development squad at Bodymoor Heath on Friday afternoon – with the intention of giving his beleaguered side some match practice and, perhaps, a much needed taste of victory.

"But things did not work out as planned, with the Villa youth side reportedly running out emphatic 3-0 winners in a game where the likes of Brad Guzan, Alan Hutton, Jordan Veretout and Scott Sinclair all featured."

They are utterly doomed.

Re: I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Villa
I'd say the first team losing to the reserves is more of a damning indictment of the manager's selection abilities than of the players themselves.

Note to manager: now you know who your best players are, try picking them for your first team!

How about blooding SOME of the youngsters?

Or are ALL of his first team useless bastards who'll send the kids to Coventry (:-)) and hang them out to dry against proper professionals?

Erm, that was the point of my post! What would you do in Garde's position?

Blood the youngsters when the club is 95% relegated and potentially destroy the young lads' confidence? And make the seniors just want to bail out? Or stick with a mess of a "1st" team?

Utter Brum shambles. I don't feel "sorry" - wrong choice of word - but I can see the club completely imploding. Shame. They gave us our kit, after all.

Their 1st team lost to their development side 3-0 today. Food for thought

They stole my hubcaps in the ghetto outside Villa Park. Bastards!
(1-1 Cottee. We played in Ecru)

I don't mind them, a club with history, rather them in the prem than the likes of reading etc.

Anyone that CUNT Sherwood has been involved with I want to suffer badly. Something about him I cannot stand. Whatever happened to Adama 'Mixture of Messi and Ronaldo' Traore of his?

Nice one Tim!

I have them at 12/1 to escape the drop... Either I lose £10 and I get that warm feeling of Villa getting relegated or I am £120 up

:)

You would think that Newcastle would have relegation clauses all over those player contracts or yeah they will be fucked.

Re: I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Villa
I think the thing for garden is that he must have been promised some sort of funding for January and they ended up signing no one

Sherwood kept them up last year on the back of bentekes goals and Delphs leadership. They also lost vlaar. They lost both in the summer and tried to plug the gaps with some exoensive signings (they spent £50m) but ayew aside, didn't really sign anyone major.

I reckon they'll come straight back up though. They have goals in them at championship level (gestede will be fine) and a steady stream of youth players. Having said that, if they don't make it back within 2 seasons they are proper screwed. But Newcastle will be in a worse position as they have big money signings on big bucks to ship out if they go down - they'll be the new QPR

Re: I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Villa
The list of club I like to see kicked when they are down is pretty short and Villa is not on it. (Chelsea was nice earlier this season)

Besides a fair number of the locals here are Villa, including my butcher. A happy butcher makes me happy.

Awful club. Good riddance.

Re: I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Villa
I understand Arsene Wenger talked Remi Garde into taking the Villa job - he must have a dark sense of humour.

I can see the other two relegated teams coming back within a year or two presuming it's between Newcastle, Sunderland and Norwich. They've been there and done it before, but Villa are knackered.

I won't miss them at all. A dour lot ever since Brian Little and John Gregory left their stamp on them..

One of my mates is a brummie exile living in Essex. I haven't the heart to wind him up about Villa any more. It's like stealing the pennies off a dead man's eyes.

Re: I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Villa
I just get the feeling that Garde is a little bit disinterested in the whole thing and doesn't seem particularly bothered.
The Frenchman appears to have given up.
Almost expect him to give a GALLIC SHRUG after each defeat.
Will get a payoff from a decent salary and jump back into a French league job with ease I suspect.
Will probably buy a new beret and stripy shirt to celebrate.

Villa are one of those teams with wildly fluctuating attendances like Boro and Chelsea which marks their fans as flaky.
Relegation and new owner will be for the best as they are now turgid and festering.

Re: I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Villa
Fucking Villa fans are cunts so fuck them all. Remember one away day when I think we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of a draw in the last minute and as we drove past a pub somehwhere in shitsville they ran out and started lobbing full pints at the car, with only 4 of us in the car and a pub full of scum chucking glasses at us we decided that on this ocassion discretion was the better part of valor and the driver put his foot down, but fortunately clipped one of the cunts on the arm, must have smarted a bit, fuck him. So no couldn't care less, fuck 'em

Re: I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Villa
Garde is a decent guy.

he is really fucked off with villa as they promised him things when he signed and haven't followed through.

Cannot begin to tell you how fucked off he was at the end of the January transfer window when hey signed no one.

rotten from the top down and the owner doesn't give a fuck.

I have a close friend that's a villa fan. sort of feel sorry for the club but sort of don't. i don't mind a big team going down every year. freshens things up.
